By taking classes in art, students will learn to identify the elements of art in a painting, work with acrylics on professional paper and canvases, and explore different types of brush strokes- thin, thick, smooth, broken- and colors, including warm, cool, primary, and secondary. The goal of our classes is to help expand students' art skill set and, in turn, their creativity, enabling them to create art inspired by the people, places, and things they observe in the world around them.
We offer art classes for children ages 4 to 13, with the hope of fostering a lifelong affinity for artistic expression, and perhaps even a lasting hobby. Some kids might discover a passion for painting watercolors, others for sculpting with clay, while still others find joy in sketching with pencil to capture fine details and shading. SportPlus Academy has been located in Indian Trail since 2021, serving neighborhoods across Charlotte, including Monroe, Matthews, Unionville, Wesley Chapel, and Weddington.
SportPlus was founded by a local mother who felt the challenges many parents face. She wanted her children to enjoy a variety of extracurricular activities, but quality programs and kids' sports in Charlotte were scattered. While traveling abroad, she discovered "kid super centers"—large, all-in-one facilities where children could explore multiple sports. She asked herself, "Why isn’t there a center like this near me?"
Other parents in Indian Trail felt the same way. Compared to central Charlotte, it was clear that our area was underserved. So, the dream began: why not build a place near us, where sports and learning come together under one roof?
Indian Trail is home. And it was clear to us that there was no better place to build this premier kids' center for youth enrichment—a center where children can find a sport they love and pursue it, where they can learn and challenge their minds, and where they can become healthier and smarter.
